Kraken Bond has introduced its Hyper Silicone Kitchen & Bath sealant in a new 2.8 fl. oz. (82.8 mL) squeeze tube format, designed for small residential re-caulking jobs that can be completed without a caulk gun. The tool-free format is being made available to homeowners and contractors ahead of the fall and winter hosting season, when many households touch up guest bathrooms and kitchens. Product details are available through Kraken Bond.
Small re-caulking jobs rank among the more common household repairs, yet standard cartridges require a caulk gun and are often only partly used. An opened cartridge tends to cure inside the nozzle before the next project arises. The new silicone squeeze tube targets this gap by offering a hand-applied option sized for one or two joints, such as a single tub surround, a sink edge or a backsplash seam.

The product uses a 100% silicone, solvent-free formula. Its neutral-cure system is non-corrosive on mirrors, copper, brass and lead. The sealant has a skin time of 7 to 13 minutes and is water-ready in 30 minutes, with tooling possible within 7 minutes of application.
In terms of performance, the sealant offers elongation at break of at least 250% with roughly 100% elastic recovery, which helps it resist shrinking and cracking over time. It carries a service temperature range from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 356 degrees Fahrenheit and provides primerless adhesion to glass, ceramic, porcelain, aluminum and enamel. The formulation is non-sag on vertical joints, low in odor, and mold- and mildew-resistant.
"Many kitchen and bath repairs involve only a few feet of joint, so a full cartridge and a caulk gun are more than the task requires," a spokesperson for Kraken Bond said. "The tube format matches the size of the job, letting someone reseal a sink or a tub edge by hand and move on. The 30-minute water-ready time means a shower or sink can often be used again the same day."
The sealant is suited for bathtubs, shower surrounds, sinks, countertops, backsplashes, tile joints and glazing. It is available in White and Clear, in 6-, 12- and 24-tube packs, and carries an 18-month shelf life. The product is not paintable and is not recommended for porous surfaces such as unsealed natural stone or concrete. It is also not intended for food contact applications.
For best results, surfaces should be clean, dry and grease-free, with application carried out between 41 degrees Fahrenheit and 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Kraken Bond shares application tips through Kraken Bond on Instagram.
