Meitu Reports Strong First Half 2025 Financial Results as AI Applications Drive Global Growth

HONG KONG - August 19, 2025 - Meitu, Inc. (1357.HK), a Hong Kong–listed AI technology company with a focus on the photo and video industry, today announced its unaudited consolidated results for the six months ended June 30, 2025. Adjusted net profit reached RMB 467 million, up 71.3% year-on-year, while total revenue grew 12.3% year-on-year to RMB 1.8 billion, reflecting strong adoption of Meitu’s AI-powered photo, video, and design products. These results highlight the impact of the company’s strategic focus on “Productivity and Globalisation.”

Paid Subscribers Reach 15.4 Million, Driving Core Revenue Growth

Revenue from photo, video, and design products rose 45.2% year-on-year to RMB 1.35 billion, representing over 74% of total revenue. Underpinning this growth is a 42% year-on-year increase of paying subscribers, which reached a new high of 15.4 million with a paying subscription rate of 5.5%. Monthly active users (MAUs) totaled 280 million, up 8.5% year-on-year, as the company’s core products Meitu, BeautyCam, and Wink maintained leading positions in China and achieved significant growth in markets outside of Mainland China.

Productivity Tools Achieve Strong International Growth

Meitu’s productivity-focused offerings, such as DesignKit for e-commerce design and Kaipai for AI-assisted video production, recorded over 90% year-on-year growth in MAUs in markets outside of Mainland China, with even faster growth in paying subscribers. In July 2025, Meitu launched its AI design agent RoboNeo that empowers users to create high-quality visual content through intelligent design automation, which quickly gained traction to rank among the top app downloads in Mainland China and several markets outside of Mainland China.

International Expansion Strengthens User Base

MAUs from markets outside of Mainland China grew by 15.3% year-on-year to 98 million, now accounting for 35% of total MAU, as localized strategies helped apps such as Wink and Vmake achieve significant growth. This included adapting features to local users’ preferences, such as popular hair colours in Indonesia and video dubbing habits in Japan.

R&D Investment Fuels Continued AI Innovation

During the first half of 2025, Meitu invested RMB 450 million in research and development through its Meitu Imaging & Vision Lab (MT Lab), underpinning ongoing AI innovation across both leisure and productivity products.
