Walgreen Co. (NYSE: WAG) will acquire drugstore.com Inc. (Nasdaq: DSCM) in an all cash deal valued at approximately $429 million. Shares of Walgreen edged up 15 cents to $39.98 while drugstore.com stock more than doubled by leaping $1.99 to $3.78.

Shares of Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S) dropped 81 cents to $4.25 after AT&T (NYSE: T) announced a $39 billion stock and cash deal to acquire T-Mobile. AT&T stock rose 42 cents to $28.36.

optionsXpress Holdings Inc. (NYSE: OXPS) will be acquired by Charles Schwab (NYSE: SCHW) in an all stock deal valued at approximately $1 billion. Shares of optionsXpress leaped $2.32 to $17.65 while Charles Schwab stock eased 2 cents to $17.54.

Jennings Capital analyst Alka Singh expects global uranium demand to increase despite possible radiation exposure in Japan after the massive earthquake damaged cooling systems at a nuclear power plant. Shares of Uranium Resources Inc. (Nasdaq: URRE) climbed 54 cents to close at $2.17.

Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE) blamed higher expenses for third quarter earnings that fell short of analyst expectations and warned that increased costs will continue to negatively impact earnings. Shares of the athletic apparel and equipment company plummeted $7.82 to close at $77.59.

Shares of cigarette maker Lorillard Inc. (NYSE: LO) surged $8.33 to close at $87.11 after The Bedford Report said that despite a recession, cigarette companies continued paying dividends.

LDK Solar Co. Inc. (NYSE: LDK) reversed year ago losses of 22 cents per American Depositary Share to post a better than expected profit for the fourth quarter of $1.09 per ADS but investors were disappointed that the company merely affirmed its 2011 revenue guidance rather than raising its outlook. The stock price fell $1.02 to $11.48.

Quest Diagnostics Inc. (NYSE: DGX) will pay a premium of $8 per share in cash to acquire genetic diagnostics firm Celera Corp. (Nasdaq: CRA). Shares of Quest lost 90 cents to $53.30 while Celera stock leaped $1.99 to $8.26.

Guess Inc. (NYSE: GES) reported higher fourth quarter earnings that topped analyst estimates of $1.11 per share compared with 93 cents per share last year but the apparel company forecast first quarter results well below expectations sending the stock price plummeting $6.16 to close at $37.71.

Flotek Industries Inc. (NYSE: FTK) narrowed losses for the year ended December 31, 2010 to $1.94 per share compared with a loss of $2.68 per share a year earlier as revenue increased. The stock price surged $1.60 to $6.87.

United Community Banks Inc. (Nasdaq: UCBI) will raise $380 million through the sale of 22.5% of the company to institutional investors. The stock price soared 45 cents to close at $1.98.

FBR Capital downgraded Hercules Offshore Inc. (Nasdaq: HERO) to an Underperform rating sending the stock price down 50 cents to $5.25.

Shares of YRC Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq: YRCW) continued falling by dropping 48 cents to $1.57 after warning yesterday that it may have to file for bankruptcy for missing a restructuring milestone.

Shares of JDS Uniphase Corp. (Nasdaq: JDSU) plummeted $3.67 to $21.71 after rival optical equipment maker Finisar Corp. (Nasdaq: FNSR) issued a disappointing outlook for the fourth quarter that fell far short of analyst expectations. Finisar stock plunged $14.57 to $25.47.

Western Digital Corp. (NYSE: WDC) will purchase the hard disk drive business of Hitachi in a cash and stock deal valued at approximately $4.3 billion. The stock price surged $3.59 to $33.60.

Accuray Inc. (Nasdaq: ARAY) will pay approximately $277 million in cash and stock to acquire TomoTherapy Inc. (Nasdaq: TOMO). Shares of Accuray fell $1.00 to $9.01 while TomoTherapy stock climbed 89 cents to $4.56.

Six Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) flight attendants who formerly worked for Northwest Airlines sued Delta after receiving lower profit sharing checks due to a union dispute sending the stock price down 46 cents to close at $10.15.

Royale Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: ROYL) sold certain assets in Kern County, California but retained royalty on the acreage. The stock price climbed $1.17 to close at $7.83.

American International Group Inc. (NYSE: AIG) will sell its stake in MetLife Inc. (NYSE: MET) for approximately $10 billlion in order to repay the government. AIG stock rose 60 cents to close at $37.30 while shares of MetLife tumbled $2.63 to close at $43.41.

Weatherford International Ltd. (NYSE: WFT) must restate earnings from 2007 through 2010 by approximately $500 million sending the stock price tumbling $2.12 to $21.40.

ReneSola Ltd. (NYSE: SOL) reversed year ago losses of 33 cents per American Depositary Share to post a profit for the fourth quarter of 69 cents per American Depositary Share but forecast 2011 results below expectations due to increased competition. Shares of the solar products company tumbled $1.85 to close at $9.20.

Central European Distribution Corp. (Nasdaq: CEDC) blamed increased impairment charges for widening fourth quarter losses. Shares of the alchoholic beverages firm plummeted $8.52 to close at $14.33.

The U. S. government awarded Novavax Inc. (Nasdaq: NVAX) a contract valued at up to $179 million to develop pandemic and seasonal recombinant flu vaccines. Novavax also licensed its proprietary recombinant virus-like-paricle vaccine technology to LG Life Sciences to develop and commericialize vaccines in South Korea. The stock price climbed 36 cents to close at $2.96.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) received a subpoena from the Securities and Exchange Commission for documents related to compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act sending the stock price tumbling $3.36 to $43.29.

RBC Capital Markets cited new products for upgrading Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE: BSX). The stock price rose 44 cents to $7.60.
