SeaChange International Inc. (Nasdaq: SEAC) reversed year ago losses of a penny per share to post a profit of 11 cents per share but the results fell short of expectations and the company forecast disappointing current quarter results. The stock price dropped $1.33 to close at $7.21.

Revenue Falls For Quiksilver

Quiksilver Inc. (NYSE: ZQK) reported higher third quarter earnings of 6 cents per share compared with a penny per share last year but revenue fell to miss expectations sending the stock price down 47 cents to close at $3.63.

Celldex Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: CLDX) and Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) ended their development and marketing agreement for Celldex's cancer vaccine rindopepimut. Shares of Celldex plummeted $1.52 to $3.26 while Pfizer stock edged up a penny to $16.41.




Finisar Beats Estimates

First quarter earnings fell for Finisar Corp. (Nasdaq: FNSR) to 24 cents per share from 62 cents per share in the year ago period but revenue climbed and the results topped analyst estimates. The stock price surged $2.11 to $15.72.

Ulta's Earnings Soar

Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance Inc. (Nasdaq: ULTA) reported higher second quarter earnings of 22 cents per share compared with 10 cents per share a year earlier and revenue that beat analyst expectations sending the stock price soaring $3.73 to $25.96.

Melco Crown Upgraded

|

Morgan Stanley upgraded Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd. (Nasdaq: MPEL) on news that overall gaming revenue in Macau soared 40% in August. The stock price gained 50 cents to close at $4.41.



Saks Inc. (NYSE: SKS) reported a 1% increase in same store sales. Shares of the luxury retailer climbed 80 cents to close at $8.22.

Same Store Sales Climb For Pier 1

Pier 1 Imports Inc. (Nasdaq: PIR) reported that second quarter same store sales climbed 11.2% lifting the stock price $1.11 to close at $7.65.

Orexigen Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: OREX) will receive $50 million upfront in a development and sales agreement with Takeda Pharmaceuticals for the obesity treatment Contrave. The stock price soared $1.03 to $5.62.




3G Capital To Acquire Burger King

|

Private equity firm 3G Capital will acquire Burger King Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BKC) in a deal valued at approximately $4 billion, including the assumption of debt. Shares of the fast food restaurant chain leaped $4.57 to $23.43.

Sycamore Networks Swings To Profit

|

Sycamore Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: SCMR) swung to a fourth quarter profit of 2 cents per share compared with a loss of $1.23 per share last year as revenue rose sending the stock price soaring $4.85 to $27.07.

The Securities and Exchange Commission's investigation into KB Home (NYSE: KBH) for possible accounting violations ended with no enforcement action. Shares of the homebuilder climbed $1.14 to close at $11.45.

Local.com Corp. (Nasdaq: LOCM) entered an agreement with Yahoo Publisher Network to distribute paid search results lifting the stock price 44 cents to close at $3.84.

 



G-III Reverses Losses

G-III Apparel Group Ltd. (Nasdaq: GIII) reversed year ago losses of 17 cents per share to post an unexpected profit for the second quarter of 15 cents per share. The company lifted its full year guidance sending the stock price soaring $3.87 to close at $28.01.

Human resources technology company Kenexa Corp. (Nasdaq: KNXA) offered $80 million in cash to acquire Salary.com (Nasdaq: SLRY). Shares of Kenexa rose 49 cents to $11.60 while Salary.com stock leaped $1.22 to $4.08.



Sunrise Senior Living Inc. (NYSE: SRZ) will receive $50 million from HCP in a settlement and restructuring agreement. The stock price leaped 93 cents to $3.14.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Burger King Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BKC) entered discussions with private equity firms for a possible sale of the fast food chain lifting the stock price $2.41 to $18.86.
