American Greetings Tops Estimates

American Greetings (NYSE: AM) reported lower first quarter earnings of 25 cents per share compared with 27 cents per share last year but the results topped estimates as the greeting card company cut expenses. The stock price leaped $3.26 to close at $9.62.
