Office Depot Beats Estimates

Office Depot Inc. (NYSE: ODP) blamed the slumping global economy for swinging to a first quarter loss of 20 cents per share compared with income of 25 cents per share but the results beat analyst expectations.  Shares of the office supplies retailer gained 39 cents to $2.92.
