Mixed Markets Ahead Of Earnings

The markets traded mixed during the midday with the Dow rising 7 poinst to 10,625 despite a greater than expected jump in exports to China as investors await corporate earnings news. Nasdaq lost 11 points to 2305.

 

On the upside

The Food and Drug Administration informed MAP Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: MAPP) that another effectiveness study of its migraine treatment Levadex would not be necessary.

AMAG Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: AMAG) reported better than expected sales of its anemia treatment Feraheme.

Ford (NYSE: F) won both the North American Car as well as Truck of the Year award at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.

On the downside

Zhongpin (Nasdaq: HOGS) disappointed with a 2010 full year forecast that missed estimates.

InterOil (Nasdaq: IOC) reported that a second test at its Antelope-2 well in Papua New Guinea confirmed a higher stabilized condensate to gas ratio.

Nu Skin (NYSE: NUS) named Stuart Kim, Ph.D. to its Nu Skin Anti-Aging Scientific Advisory Board.

In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of more than 9 to 7 on the NYSE while decliners edged out advancers by nearly 10 to 9 on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks lost 2 points to 642.
